Techno Tuesday: Classroom Applications

There's an app for that! :
How can mobile devices be utilized in teaching? The possibilities are endless and for nearly every possible use there is most likely an application available.  (quick pictures, videos, stats, virtual galleries, etc.)

Class blogs:
Blog sites can be a great tool for the classroom.  Check out the "Mobile Monday" section of the blog linked below. (I just happened upon the site through a google search.)

Communication:
Posting student work, class assignments, discussion board critiques, and educational links on blogs or class websites are just the beginning.  A few other possibilities are e-mail updates such as assignment deadlines and communication with homebound students.

Extending education beyond the school year:
My sons third grade teacher sent e-mail messages to the kids last summer.  She would talk about the book she was reading (and included a link), encouraged them to keep reading and included fun websites.  My son really enjoyed receiving e-mails and hearing from his previous teacher!

And just in case I have lost your attention... the baby has a few things to say:

  1. Too cute! I believe that's babyspeak for "I'm gonna know more about technology than you can even dream of!"

  3. Your son's teacher had a really cool idea to encourage continued interest and extend what they had learned over the summer! I applaud her.

  4. Wonderful ideas - and ADORABLE little one. When I played the video my dogs ears perked up - she was very concerned!

I second what VaLynda was saying about your son's teacher - how cool! What a great way to extend learning and keep kids feeling connected. It would be cool for him keep a blog and share what he's been working on with her this year as well.

I can't wait to check out your links!
